Research Network Energy Transition and Society
The energy transition and climate protection require a comprehensive reorganisation of the entire energy system. This is not just about technological changes and innovations, but also about social perception, participation and change. The newly founded Research Network Energy Transition and Society offers a platform for exchanging specialist expertise on current issues and developments and for initiating joint research projects as part of the Energy Transition and Society funding priority.
The success of the energy transition goes beyond purely technological aspects: social changes and needs form the basis for sustainable compromises and actions in this context. Understanding a comprehensive transformation process away from fossil fuels requires the analysis, development and multiplication of new, socially acceptable approaches to energy supply. In addition to administration and politics, economic sectors and value chains, social research on the energy transition also considers social groups, private households and individuals as reference points for research and the downstream transfer of results.
The Research Network Energy Transition and Society gives experts the opportunity to pool their expertise, network and make new findings visible. The network addresses experts from research, foundations and associations, civil society organisations, the private sector, municipal companies and local authorities.
Living open science
The research network specifically supports the networking and knowledge exchange of research and development projects in the Energy Transition and Society funding prioritiy. In this context, the focus is particularly on projects that address social and societal issues and flank purely technologically orientated funding measures.
In addition, the research network intends to support relevant projects from other funding areas of the energy research programme as well as from other departments, both nationally and internationally, as a platform for dialogue. With discussion forums, workshops, conferences and network meetings, it should offer comprehensive, professional knowledge management in the spirit of open science and contribute to the improved utilisation of results achieved within the framework of the Energy Transition and Society funding measure and beyond.
